Every steelmaking unit requires various types of ferroalloys for achieving the desired chemical composition. Normally, high quality ferroalloys are produced by carbothermic reactions in submerged electric arc furnace (SAF). Since smelting in the SAF is highly energy-intensive process, perfect design of the whole plant is very critical for running the plant profitably on sustained basis.
